Hey guys, I have been painting this guy here and there during the baby's naps. I am really excited about him but on the other hand realizing it's time to do some kind of illustration. I'm going to work back into this old environment sketch and see how far I can take it.

So I did this sketch the other day while my wife was hogging up the computer. I'm pumped about it but I just watched a video lecture by Scott Robertson, an amazing draftsman and designer, so I'm looking forward to making some more designs and hopefully work on getting tighter or more exacting.

figure drawing

Hey guys, posting the few drawings that I thought had some nice moments. I told Aisleen that I think I'm starting to identify shape better when i look out into the world. Pretty excited about that.

design for transport

Hey everyone this design has a bit of a story. While working on Hellboy I found myself having some downtime while waiting for textures to bake and shots to render. I figured great time for drawing and came up with this. I love how the machine looks as if it is grabbing onto the wheel. I will post renders of hellboy soon. I think I really want to try a few more attempts at rendering him.

letting it rip

I'm considering today a great drawing class. It has been a long time since I have had some serious fun in a figure drawing session. It's been a long time since I have BEEN in a drawing class!!!! Now my goal is to get these opinions more clear. But I'll say it again, I had myself some fun today.

Hellboy update

Hi guys, here is the finished high poly of hellboy. I think I'm going to do a few polish type things to him tonight. Also attached is a mental ray render of my bust. I cant express how excited I am to get a render of the transformer guy up cause I think he's going to work well with mental ray, lots of interesting form changes.

weapon challenge at work

Here's my entry for a challenge at work. 5oo polys and a 256X256 texture. I owe a thanks to our lead for getting on my ass to finish it. It's a medieval design of an axe\knife. I figure our character would hold 2 of them.

Hey everyone, haven't been working a whole lot lately, been spending time with my 2 favorite girls!!!! here are a couple designs I'm laboring through. The standing figure is my take on Kid Icarus a character from an old NES game. The other a helmet design.

black and white

can't get resolution on this one to work out. if u zoom in it gets less pixelated. Dermot Powers inspired this rendering.

civil war portrait

Found this guy on an awesome civil war website. Done on a couple lunch breaks. The idea of breaking a form down is becoming my mission. I'm coming to the conclusion that when I work I really want to stay more focused on the task at hand and not wander off into my unconscience state I love so very much. I want to learn how to control that and balance it. I might need meds to do

Going back

hope everyone had a great weekend. Went back to an old model and reworked it. I had 2 more shots to complete the turn around but ran out of posting room.

Update on an old project. I am really getting comfortable with some of the brushes in z-brush so I'm very happy. Starting to really feel a way to get the clay down. Oh and babe I love you!!!!

I really hope you guys enjoy these. They are sketches to determine layout and composition. I must have done 60 of these washes/painter sketches and nothing was working. I could not go to bed without one more try and I came up with these in which I was a lot happier. These were inspired by an artist who I have been following for some time now. His name is Nathan Fowkes. He is a true master.

Round Two

So this morning I looked at the last post I entered and I was pretty unhappy. It just wasn't what I thought it should look like so I repainted it today. Used some good old Star Wars reference. God those guys were awesome model builders. I still have to finish the model's legs and it has tons of holes to be filled. Any how I really like the shiney gun barrels covered in blast dirt.

Went back to an old model i had been working on. Still have plenty to do on the model. This is a paint over of a render of that model, just like the transformer. I want to add that there is a new modeler at work who is inspiring me to get back into high poly stuff. I'm big time rusty.

Very happy with this guy so far. Still painting on it here and there. I owe a huge thanks to everyone I talk art with at work. Suggestions were made and they all really helped me get this piece to this point. So thanks guys, you all are wicked smart.

portrait painting

When I started this painting I was scared and unsure. I found myself creeping slowly around in my mark making. I HATE THAT MORE THAN ANYTHING IN THE WORLD. I started over in pure anger. I forced myself to have purpose and even felt some delicate desicions creeping in towards the end. I also had session number 2 with the pirate painting and am pretty happy. Its changing.

Having fun

hello everyone, today I preached a little about celebrating achievements along the way. I can't stress how important it is as artists to do that. These 3 pages were picked out of a bunch. A little sketchbook art contest to celebrate seeing and understanding form a little better.
I think I'm going to pick a winner and paint it. Let me know which one u like the most.................or I could just say here's some more half finished

Hello everyone. These are some old ideaologies and a painting I have been working on for some time. Something I came up with while working on this is a definition for a geometric plane. So hear it is. A plane is a shelf for light. I like that
